| Notes |
- William Henry Fewell: (Better know to me as Gramps). I was 6 when he died. I remember him as "Gramps" who sat in the rocking chair in the corner of my Great Aunt Clarice' dining room. He used to tell us we were related to the infamous Jesse James, and I always beleived him because I had been taken to Otterville to see the place that The James Gang had robbed the train. It wasn't until I was older that I figured out that probably we weren't related because I could find no link to them. Although I guess I shouldn't write it off, because you never know.
Born to Captain Hiram CJ and Effa Elizabeth Polson Fewell on April 18, 1879 in Morgan County Missouri. On September 27, 1906, he married Effie Verena Richardson. They moved to Sedalia, Mo at some point. he became The Sheriff of Pettis County in 1923. This was during Prohibition times, so he was pretty busy looking for illegal moonshine makers. His girls had to go away to a private Catholic School to keep them safe. There are several stories in Sedalia archives about the time he was Sheriff, too many for me to note here. I do however have a picture of him and two of his deputies with a captured Still. He and Effie had three children.
